HOWTOJOIN
Step 1: Contact Us
Contact us through the website about coming along to one of our meetings. Our Vice President of Membership will then be in touch with you.
Step 2: Come Along
Toastmasters is not like a commercial seminar or workshop, you can attend several meetings before becoming a member. This gives you a chance to witness how a meeting operates and to mingle with current members as well as other guests.
You can sit back and watch proceedings or participate in the table topics section of the evening. However you will not be able to present a speech or take on one of the many roles until you have become a member.
Step 3: Formalised Membership
When you have become a full member you will be given an introductory kit. This includes a manual with the first ten speeches and booklets on how to improve the quality of your speech and other subjects.
There will be an induction ceremony where you will be formally welcomed into the club. You will also be given the Toastmasters pin which is recognised by members all over the world.

ABOUTUS
Meeting Format
There are no teachers in a Toastmasters' club. Members take turns giving speeches and being evaluated by their peers. The program is self-paced and you get to choose your speech topics.
Every meeting has a set agenda but no one has the same responsibility week after week. As you gain your confidence you will be rostered on for new roles. This allows members to develop not only their speaking skills but their organisational skills as well.
History
The organization was founded in 1924 at the Santa Ana YMCA in California by a youth leader named Ralph Smedley. He wanted to teach young professionals how to give after-dinner speeches and toasts at social functions.
Our club was started in 1996 and is part of Toastmasters International’s network of over 13,000 clubs that meet in 113 countries across the globe.
We are "Toast of Broadway" in District 72,
Division A, Area A8. Our Club number is 7453.

Benefits of Joining Toastmasters
Every speech that you present involves the learning of a new skill which naturally becomes part of your speaking repertoire.
For example, learn to use and present Powerpoint presentations on the Club Projector!
The benefits these skills bring, in both social and business settings, is why Toastmasters has been such a success all around the world.
Personal Growth
Though Toastmasters main focus is on helping its members to develop different speaking skills, the Competent Leadership path will develop you in other areas. Members have the opportunity to take on a mentoring role in the club or serve on its executive committee.
Our Members
Our members come from a wide range of backgrounds and fields and also represent a wide age group. A fun and relaxed environment has seen our numbers continue to grow.
